Ming Pavilion’s exclusive Chinese New Year Set Menu (HK$988 + 10% service charge per person) features a culinary journey that captures the spirit of prosperity and good fortune typical of the festive season. The centrepiece of the menu is a traditional Lo Hei, a vibrant salad consisting of matsutake mushrooms, pomelo, and a combination of live Japanese sea whelk and Hamachi, served with a special yuzu sauce. This time-honoured dish, where family and friends come together to toss the ingredients while exchanging good wishes, represents the act of inviting abundance and happiness into one’s life for the coming year.
The set menu continues with an enticing selection of assorted appetizers, including Deep-fried Five Spice Bean Curd Pork Rolls, hand-chopped Crab and Prawn Rolls, Fujian Red lees Flavoured Crispy Eel, and Drunken Scotland Razor Clams paired with Qing Hong rice wine. Guests can choose between two rich soup options: The Fujian-style Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is a traditional delicacy with premium ingredients such as abalone, dried scallops, fish maw, and sea cucumber, all prepared in a stock made from chicken, pork rib, and duck that is simmered for eight hours. From the sea, diners will enjoy Minnan style Pan-Seared Coral Red Grouper Fish and Steamed Local Lobster enhanced with 15-year Shao Hsing wine.
