Gelato Messina is Australia’s most loved gelateria, growing from a single store that opened in Darlinghurst in 2002, to now 22 stores across the East Coast of Australia, all privately owned and operated. As their number of stores grows, so does their obsession with making everything themselves. They never, ever use pre-made bases or mass-produced flavour pastes and instead create a unique recipe for every single Messina flavour from scratch. Any toppings or chunky additions you see in their gelato are made by Messina chefs at their in-house bakery. At each Messina store, you’ll find 40 freshly churned flavours, with 35 traditional flavours and 5 rotating weekly specials each week.
Equally obsessed with the quality of the gelato as they are with the origin of the ingredients, Messina even has their own dairy farm that supplies them with super creamy Jersey milk, their own hazelnut farm and strawberry farm, plus makes all their own chocolate and dulce de leche in-house
