An Ode to Rice features eight varieties of Asian rice, from the glossy and elegant Japanese koshihikari rice and Vietnamese com tam broken rice, to Taiwanese black rice and beautifully fragrant Thai Jasmine rice. The menu starts with a cold scallop and oyster congee appetiser, created with Jasmine rice and black rice, followed by a traditional Hong Kong-style cheung fun steamed rice roll with shrimp. Crispy brown rice from Taiwan complements horsehead fish and tomato salad, and Chinese glutinous rice is infused with lotus and fennel to pair perfectly with lavender pigeon.
Guests will move on to a familiar main of Hong Kong-style char siu barbecued pork with egg on Heilongjiang rice, followed by a dessert of toasted brown rice ice cream with sake kasu souffle. To conclude the lavish rice feast, there is a supplemental option of mignardises from the famous TATE Ode to Chinoiserie Mignardise trolley, or a selection of cheeses.
Lunch at TATE Dining Room is now available on Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm-2:30pm.
