• Galette des Rois “King’s Cake” by Chef Maxime Gilbert

Two Michelin-starred ÉCRITURE rings in the much-anticipated New Year of 2021 by bringing back its crowd-favourite French pastry – Galette des Rois, a traditional French dessert that is typically enjoyed during the first week of the New Year in Europe. At Écriture, Chef Maxime Gilbert and local-born Patissier Cyrus Yan have come up with their own interpretation of Galette des Rois, or “King’s Cake”.

Inspired by childhood memories growing up in France, Ecriture’s Galette des Rois is a homemade puff pastry filled with almond cream, flavoured with rum and orange blossom essence. The annual tradition of eating Galette des Rois is believed to date back to the 14th century and continues to this day in France as a celebration of the Christian festival, the Epiphany.

From the 4th of January till 31st of January 2022, guests will be able to purchase Galette des Rois at Écriture to join in on the indulgent French tradition. The tart is also served as part of the Mignardises course for dine-in guests during this period.

Celebrate L’Épiphanie with Ecriture’s flaky, decadent and highly irresistible pastry creation with friends and loved ones. This year, Galette des Rois is available in three sizes, small for HK$288 per tart, medium for HK$588 per tart, and large for HK$888 per tart. Orders must be made 24 hours in advance and picked up directly at the restaurant.
