This summer from 20th June, Hong Kong welcomes Ninetta, a lively new Italian trattoria opening in Central. Co-founded by Antimo Merone and Graziano De Gregorio of ESTRO together with Chef Marco Xodo and JIA Group, Ninetta brings together the warmth of traditional Italian hospitality with contemporary energy, creating a place where guests can stop by for a quick espresso, gather for a family feast, linger over a long lunch, or settle in for a lively evening with friends.
Led by Co-Founder and Head Chef Marco Xodo, Ninetta embraces the philosophy of “Italian Food For Everyone”, serving straightforward Italian cuisine rooted in quality ingredients and warm hospitality.
The Spirit of Ninetta
Pronounced “nee-NET-ta”, Ninetta is a term of endearment that loosely translates to “little Nina” or “dear Nina”. More importantly, it evokes the image of a beloved Italian matriarch – the mother, grandmother, aunt or family figure whose home is always open and whose table is always full.
Inspired by the Italian tradition of gathering around Nonna, Ninetta represents warmth, comfort and togetherness. It is a restaurant built around the same nurturing spirit: welcoming, approachable and full of life. At its heart, Ninetta is designed to feel like a warm embrace; a neighbourhood trattoria where exceptional food, genuine hospitality and lively conversation come together under one roof.
At the Helm: Chef Marco Xodo
Leading the kitchen is Co-Founder and Head Chef Marco Xodo, whose career spans more than two decades across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Formerly Head Chef of Testina Hong Kong and previously Chef de Cuisine at 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA Shanghai, Chef Marco brings a wealth of international experience to Ninetta, where he champions authentic Italian cooking, warm hospitality and the joy of sharing great food.
Chef Marco’s 32-dish à la carte menu celebrates Italian dining “Famiglia Style”, featuring antipasti, handmade pastas, sharing mains and classic desserts. Highlights include Veal Tonnato, Lasagna Terrine, Tortellini, Whole Boston Lobster Paccheri, charcoal-grilled Wagyu Rib Eye and the signature Ninetta Tiramisu. Inspired by nostalgic Italian homes, Ninetta pairs warm, lively interiors with a spacious terrace ideal for aperitivo and long meals with friends.
A beverage programme centred on Italy’s aperitivo culture features classic cocktails, a curated selection of zero-proof drinks and an extensive all-Italian wine list spanning everyday favourites to iconic labels.
Ninetta has now soft-opened in Central from 20th June starting with dinner service only, stay tuned on all happenings and latest news via the restaurant’s social networks.
