<<2nd July, 2026 – Hong Kong>> Santa Nata, the internationally recognised Portuguese bakery devoted to the iconic Pastel de Nata, is delighted to announce the official opening of its first Hong Kong location on 25-27 Lyndhurst Terrace in Central.

Founded in London by Portuguese entrepreneur Francisco Oliveira, Santa Nata has become one of the United Kingdom’s most beloved destinations for authentic Portuguese custard tarts. Since opening its first bakery in 2019, the brand has expanded to six locations across London and Oxford, alongside a store in Oxford, with additional international locations in Kuwait, Doha, and Istanbul. Hong Kong marks the next chapter in Santa Nata’s global expansion of its 10th shop and its first opening in Asia.

Situated in the heart of Central, the new bakery brings Santa Nata’s heritage to Hong Kong with its signature handmade Pastéis de Nata. Baked fresh throughout the day, each tart honours a traditional Portuguese recipe passed down for over 300 years. The process is meticulous: laminated pastry is layered to perfection, silky custard is prepared with care, and every tart is baked at high heat to create the hallmark contrast of crisp, flaky layers and a caramelised, creamy centre. The Hong Kong outpost also will offers intimate seating for eight guests, with space for an additional eight to stand. Visitors can enjoy front-row views of the open kitchen, watching the bakers craft each batch by hand in real time.

“Hong Kong has one of the most exciting and dynamic food cultures in the world. We are incredibly excited to introduce authentic Portuguese Pastéis de Nata to the city and create a bakery experience that combines tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation. While our signature tart will always remain at the heart of Santa Nata, our monthly-changing menu means there will always be something new for guests to discover.” says Francisco Oliveira, Founder of Santa Nata.

Freshness remains at the heart of the Santa Nata experience. Like its London bakeries, the Hong Kong location will bake multiple batches daily on-site, ensuring guests can enjoy warm Pastéis de Nata straight from the oven throughout the day. While traditional Pastéis de Nata are often perceived as richly sweet, Francisco holds deep respect for Hong Kong’s local palate. Santa Nata Hong Kong have carefully refined their recipe to suit regional preferences, striking a delicate balance between authentic Portuguese heritage and the city’s unique taste profile—without compromising the soul of the original tart.

Santa Nata Hong Kong Debuts with Curated Signature Menu

Santa Nata Hong Kong will launch with a tightly curated menu centred around three signature pastry creations. Guests will be able to enjoy the brand’s iconic Pastel de Nata (HK$14 each; HK$28 for two; HK$56 for four; HK$112 for eight). Renowned for its crisp, caramelised pastry shell and silky egg custard centre, the Portuguese tart remains the cornerstone of Santa Nata’s offering.

Alongside the tart, Santa Nata introduces Pão de Deus (HK$25), literally translated as God’s Bread in Portugal — a traditional Portuguese sweet bread reimagined with a Hong Kong influence. Drawing inspiration from local coconut buns, each piece is crafted using a refined Japanese pillow-bun technique, filled with delicate coconut paste, and finished with a layer of classic nata custard. The dough undergoes a slow one-hour proof before being baked to golden perfection. The third hero item is the Santa Nata Brioche (HK$25) — a traditional Portuguese Croissant brioche shaped in the style of a French croissant. It may be enjoyed on its own or elevated with an optional serving of rich Nata Cream (+HK$5).

All three hero products will be freshly baked throughout the day, with batches leaving the oven at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. When the shop bells chime, guests will know a new wave of warm, just-baked pastries is ready to be enjoyed.

These signature pastries are paired with a carefully selected beverage range, including the indulgent Nata Latte (HK$48), Nata Milk Tea (HK$45), and a variety of classic coffees and teas starting from HK$30. Available both individually and in share-size boxes (with up to 8 pieces maximum per guest), Pastéis de Nata are the ideal companion for a morning coffee run, an afternoon treat, an office indulgence, or a celebratory gathering.

A New Menu & New Items on a Regular Basis

Setting the Hong Kong location apart is Santa Nata’s commitment to introducing new products on a monthly basis to keep it fun, exciting and delicious.

Alongside its signature classics, the bakery will unveil a rotating lineup of limited-edition pastries, desserts, seasonal specials, and new creations inspired by both Portuguese traditions and local tastes. The 30-60 day-changing menu ensures that every visit offers something different, creating a dynamic experience for regular guests while allowing the team to continually showcase new ideas and flavours. Future launches may include specialty custard-based desserts, seasonal pastries, and exclusive Hong Kong-only creations available for limited periods. Stay tuned for all the new product updates.

From Portugal to London, and Now Hong Kong

Santa Nata was founded by Francisco Oliveira, who was born and raised in Santarém, Portugal, in a family with more than three generations of baking heritage. Although he initially pursued a corporate career, Oliveira ultimately returned to his roots with a vision of bringing authentic Portuguese baking traditions to an international audience.

Relocating to London in 2019 without prior hospitality experience in the UK, Oliveira opened the first Santa Nata bakery with a mission to recreate the authentic flavours he grew up with in Portugal. The concept quickly resonated with customers and has since grown into an internationally recognised bakery brand. Widely recognised as one of Portugal’s most iconic culinary exports, the Pastel de Nata has seen growing international popularity in recent years. Yet Santa Nata remains committed to preserving the authenticity of the original recipe while continuously evolving its bakery offering through new products and experiences.
