(11th June, 2026 – Hong Kong) This July, Torikaze Hong Kong welcomes the return of Chef Yoshiteru Ikegawa, one of Japan’s most revered yakitori masters and founder of the acclaimed Torishiki ICHIMON group, for an exclusive three-night guest chef experience from 28 to 30 July 2026.
Taking over the grill at Torikaze Hong Kong for three evenings only, Chef Ikegawa will personally present a special yakitori omakase menu priced at HK$1,480 + 10% per guest, offering diners a rare opportunity to experience his craftsmanship firsthand. Widely regarded as a leading figure in elevating yakitori into one of Japan’s most respected culinary disciplines, Chef Ikegawa’s appearances outside Japan remain exceptionally limited.
Hosted within Torikaze Hong Kong at Forty-Five, LANDMARK, the menu reflects Chef Ikegawa’s philosophy of Yakitori-dō (“The Way of Yakitori”), where technical precision, restraint, and respect for ingredients guide every skewer.
The evening begins with three seasonal appetizers including silky liver mousse, chilled corn soup, and a ginger and shiso chicken roll, before progressing to stuffed chicken wings filled with fragrant Yunnan mushrooms. Throughout the omakase, guests will enjoy a carefully curated selection of signature yakitori cuts grilled over premium Kishu binchotan charcoal, including chicken thigh, shoulder, gizzard, heart, fillet, tsukune meatball, chicken oyster, and wing, alongside seasonal vegetables such as Manganji peppers, broccoli, okra, and sweet potato.
Additional highlights include a refreshing cold tomato and water bean dish, followed by a comforting claypot rice course featuring sweet seasonal corn. The experience concludes with coconut and mango ice cream, offering a light and tropical finale to the meal.
“One skewer, one lifetime” remains the guiding philosophy behind Chef Ikegawa’s cooking. Every skewer is grilled individually according to its cut, fat content, texture, and ideal temperature, demonstrating the meticulous attention to detail that has earned him international acclaim.
A Rare Opportunity to Experience a Yakitori Master
Born in Tokyo’s Edogawa district, Chef Ikegawa trained extensively at the renowned Toriyoshi in Nakameguro before opening Torishiki in 2007. Under his leadership, Torishiki earned a MICHELIN star and became one of Japan’s most sought-after yakitori restaurants, attracting diners from around the world.
Today, Chef Ikegawa leads Torishiki ICHIMON, a collective of acclaimed yakitori restaurants spanning Japan and overseas, including New York, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Through Torikaze, he continues his mission of preserving and sharing authentic Tokyo yakitori culture with a global audience while mentoring the next generation of yakitori chefs.
Torikaze Hong Kong: Continuing a Tradition of Excellence
Since opening at Forty-Five, LANDMARK in late October 2025, Torikaze Hong Kong has quickly established itself as one of the city’s most exciting new dining destinations. In 2026, the restaurant was recognized as Best New Restaurant and named one of Tatler Best’s Best 20 Restaurants by Tatler Dining in Hong Kong, while also winning Best Japanese Restaurant by Foodie Hong Kong and securing a place on the SCMP 100 Top Tables list.
Chef Ryo Matsui, Head Chef of Torikaze Hong Kong

Beyond this special event, Torikaze Hong Kong offers a curated range of dining experiences. Lunch features a selection of Japanese comfort dishes and yakitori set menus, while dinner centers around the restaurant’s signature omakase experience, showcasing a progression of premium chicken cuts, seasonal vegetables, and specialty dishes prepared according to traditional Tokyo yakitori techniques.
