    <<22nd August, 2018 – Hong Kong>> Gough’s on Gough, the first restaurant concept by acclaimed furniture and interiors designer Timothy Oulton is celebrating its one year anniversary on Gough Street with a special new British afternoon tea experience. Launching on 8 September and available exclusively on Saturdays, the new menu introduces Gough’s on Gough’s modern take on a classic slice of British heritage.

    For centuries, Britain has embraced tea-drinking as the nation’s favourite pastime. Back in the mid-nineteenth century, it is said the seventh Duchess of Bedford complained of a ‘sinking feeling’ towards the late afternoon, and to alleviate her hunger, she took to her private boudoir to indulge in a pot of tea with some bread and cake. The duchess soon began inviting friends to join her, and the ritual of afternoon tea  eventually flourished into quite the social event.. Today, afternoon tea remains an elegant affair steeped in the romance of tradition, enjoyed through a range of occasions from casual gatherings to birthday celebrations.

    The New British Afternoon Tea Experience at Gough’s on Gough

    Priced at HK$248+10% per person or HK$488+10% per 2 people, the new afternoon tea menu presents a fabulous selection of savouries and sweets enjoyed with tea or coffee, and served on beautiful vintage china hand-picked from the UK. Starting with classic finger sandwiches elevated with high quality ingredients from the British Isles, nibble on Poached Chicken & Tarragon Mayonnaise, Beef & Whole Grain Mustard and Smoked Scottish Salmon with Crème Fraiche & Cucumber sandwichesA long-standing staple of afternoon tea, the Homemade Raisin Scones arrive warm and buttery, served with clotted cream and homemade jam. Finally, indulge your sweet tooth with the selection of shared desserts, which include Lemon & Mascarpone MousseChocolate & Orange Dome Cake and Carrot Cake with Butter Cream.

    For an additional HK$138, guests can also enjoy a glass of Louis Roederer Brut Premier NV or Louis Roederer Brut Rose 2012 for an additional HK$168 per glass.
