<<29th August 2019 – Hong Kong>> This mid-end September, the city’s discerning wine lovers will raise a glass to the arrival of Hong Kong’s first sommelier-led specialty wine bar, ThinkWine, which is set to open its doors in the heart of SoHo inside the newly opened LL Tower, 2 Shelly Street. Co-founded by celebrated French sommeliers Romain Loriot and Jean-Benoit Issele, ThinkWine introduces a sophisticated yet affordable new wine and food-pairing experience to Hong Kong’s serious wine drinkers.
Stocking close to 600 different wines, the extensive wine menu at ThinkWine showcases an alluring diversity of terroir, appellations and vintages rarely found in Hong Kong. At ThinkWine, guests will discover an enhanced wine tasting experience with carefully curated food pairings. With a strong belief that great wine should be complemented by great food, the bar bites menu offers a delectable assortment of premium bites to pair perfectly with your glass of wine.
Romain Loriot, Co-founder of ThinkWine
Originally from Montpellier, France, Romain Loriot’s discerning palate and lifelong passion for wine paved his career in the world of F&B. He had previously worked alongside world-renowned chefs to curate award-winning wine lists and unique food pairings as the Group Sommelier and wine buyer for twelve restaurants under Le Comptoir Group in Hong Kong. With experience in wine purchasing, importation and sales, Romain brings his multifaceted skills to the opening of ThinkWine, his first wine bar co-venture with Jean-Benoit Issele. Notably, Romain has enjoyed a long working history with the Alain Ducasse Enterprise as Head Sommelier at Rech, Hong Kong (1 star), Rech, Paris (1 star), Sommelier at Benoit, Paris (1 star) and Dorchester, London (3 stars).
Jean-Benoit Issele, Co-founder of ThinkWine
Bringing an impressive blend of international experience, expertise and enthusiasm, Jean-Benoit Issele is the celebrated former Head Sommelier of Belon (#15 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 and 1 Michelin Star) and the other venues under Black Sheep Restaurant Group. His discovered his deep passion for wine service alongside David Biraud and was the Sommelier at Thierry Marx (2 stars) in Mandarin Oriental Paris, after which he settled into the Beverage Manager role at Sofitel Wanda in Ningbo, China. Jean-Benoit moved to Dubai to learn a new aspect of hospitality service as the Assistant Manager at Palazzo Versace (50 Best Chefs), before landing in Hong Kong as the Restaurant Manager of Frantzen’s Kitchen. Now, he has teamed up with fellow wine lover and business partner Romain Loriot to open Hong Kong’s newest premier wine destination.
