<<24th August, 2017 – Hong Kong>> Celebrating the individuality of ingredients and the savoir-faire of fine fare, The House of Krug recently launched its third annual publication From Forest to Fork to honor the protean usage of mushrooms in the kitchen. Beef & Liberty’s Group Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky will be one of 22 chefs from Hong Kong’s outstanding establishments to curate a mushroom-themed dish to pair with Krug Grande Cuvée.

With that in mind, the premium hamburger restaurant applies a fixed mark-up of only +HK$180 per bottle, assuring customers a quality drink for less. Hear that? Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky X Krug Champagne
Group Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky, a revered chef who has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Krug, will highlight two mushrooms of the season in The Truffle & Mushroom Burger. The former Executive Chef of the Krug Room among other lauded dining establishments at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, Chef Uwe is well versed in pairing the fine and delicate tasting notes of Krug Grande Cuvée. A true testament to his creativity, the exquisite Truffle & Mushroom Burger masterfully balances the distinct delicate flavors of the porcini and the blooming ‘Hen of The Woods’ Japanese Maitake with duck, truffle, rocket and duck egg.
“What I’m using here are two of my personal favourite mushroom varieties, Porcini (cep) and the Japanese Maitake. I love the combination of the two as they produce a really juicy, meaty flavour when cooked, and of course, would pair wonderfully with a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée,” says Chef Uwe Opocensky

Our name originates in 18th century Britain where the leading members of London society gathered in beefsteak clubs to partake of great food, fine booze and entertaining company. The brilliantly named Sublime Society of Beefsteaks was the most famous of all the clubs and its motto was “Let beef and liberty be my reward”. We loved the line so much we took it as our name. Enjoy!
