<<31st January 2020 – Hong Kong>> On the evening of 15th February 2020, La Rambla by Catalunya will welcome Spanish guest chef Rafa Zafra of Estimar to join Executive Chef Ferran Tadeo on the pass. Currently #1 in OAD Top Restaurants 2018-2019 for Top 100 + European Gourmet Casual Restaurants, as well as a 50 Best Discovery and MICHELIN Guide Barcelona 2020 recommended restaurant, Estimar is a reflection of Chef Rafa’s Andalusian upbringing and love for the sea.. This collaboration will mark Chef Rafa’s debut appearance in Hong Kong, where he will be cooking for the first time along with Estimar Executive Chef and protégé, Ricardo Acquista. The La Rambla by Catalunya X Estimar’s special 1-night seafood tasting menu will be priced at HK$1,480 + 10% service charge per guest.
About Chef Rafa Zafra, Chef-owner of Estimar Barcelona
Hailing from Seville, Spain, el Bulli alum Rafa Zafra began his culinary journey at the age of 16 when he would wake up daily to the wafting scents of a traditional Andaluz kitchen. He has worked at some of the most respected culinary establishments in the world, including Tristán, Arzak, and Calima, and most notably with Ferran Adria at El Bulli at its pinnacle of fame. In 2011, Rafa progressed to international gastronomic consultancy at Oasis Hotel, where he expanded his talent as a chef in both Mexico and Spain. His unique approach to food won him multiple accolades such as “Star of the Year 2013” and “50 Top Star Chefs of Mexico” in Cancun. In 2015, Rafa opened the doors to his newest personal project, restaurant Estimar in Barcelona, using this as an intimate platform to express his love for seafood. The award-winning restaurant is a local favourite, an extraordinary hidden gem nestled within the alleyways of Barcelona’s El Born neighbourhood.
About Chef Ferran Tadeo, Executive Chef of La Rambla Hong Kong
Born in Barcelona, Chef Ferran spent almost a decade under the tutelage of the world’s finest Michelin-starred chefs Ferran and Albert Adrià (el Bulli, Tickets) and Chef Sergi Arola (Arola). Mastering the nuances of Catalan cuisine, he opened El Nacional de Barcelona, currently the go-to destination for Spanish food in Barcelona. Known for delivering brilliant flavours with a creative flair, Chef Ferran was recruited by award-winning chef José Andrés to work at his eponymous Minibar in Washington D.C. In early 2017 Ferran was appointed Executive Chef of Hong Kong’s award-winning Catalunya, which subsequently moved to the heart of Central and rebranded as La Rambla by Catalunya. Dedicated to delivering unique flavours, sourcing top quality ingredients and showcasing his creative concepts, Ferran brings a modern twist to traditional dishes.

Ferran Tadeo, Rafa Zafra and Estimar Executive Chef Ricardo Acquista will work together to showcase their favourite ways of celebrating the sea, with dishes that complement each other in perfect harmony throughout the degustation journey. With a focus on the chefs’ shared love for seafood, guests will be indulged with a selection of some of the finest catch from Asia and Europe.
