<<27th June 2019 – Hong Kong>> KINSHIP, the charming restaurant co-venture by chef friends Chris Grare and Arron Rhodes, unveils a new weekend brunch experience in the heart of Soho. Kinship now opens its doors from 11:30am every weekend, providing brunch-goers the perfect place to reconnect with loved ones over hearty fare. Paying homage to the chef-owners’ distinctive upbringings, the brunch menu will alternate between American and British themes every weekend.
Helming the kitchen is American-born chef Chris Grare, previously the celebrated Executive Chef of Lily & Bloom, and managing the front of house is British chef and co-founder Arron Rhodes,renowned for his past tenure as the Executive Chef of Gough’s on Gough. With a brotherhood spanning seven years, the two chefs developed their bond into their first restaurant brainchild, Kinship.
Introducing the New Weekend Brunch Menu at Kinship
Inspired by Chris and Arron’s fond childhood memories growing up in American and British households, respectively, Kinship’s brunch experience will rotate between The American Menu and The British Menu every weekend. Each menu is priced at a valued HK$388+10% per person, with an optional free-flow package at an additional +HK$198.
“The American Brunch Menu” begins with family-style starters such as warm homemade biscuits slathered in Southern-style sausage gravy, soft-scrambled eggs with Chef Chris’s signature Cajun seasoning, salt-baked beet and citrus with refreshing mint yogurt sauce, and the classic American breakfast dish, corned beef hash with caramelized onions. For your main, choose one among three sizzling plates, including hot and sweet fried chicken and waffles, the polenta and fried prawn with pickled jalapeno sour cream, or a stack of ultra-fluffy pancakes layered with crispy bacon, peanut butter and maple syrup.
Desserts are reminiscent of American boardwalk treats, including the ice cream sundae with all the fixin’s and drizzled with caramel sauce, and carnival-ready funnel cake with powdered sugar.
“The British Brunch Menu” is an ode to the traditional British Roast, using exceptional produce to recreate the beloved Sunday household tradition. For starters, choose between pea and ham soupand chicke,n and truffle terrine accompanied by Arron’s nanna’s tangy vegetable relish (piccalilli), before diving into the main course.
Guests can choose between the incredibly tender roast sirloin of Devonshire beef, served with a classic Yorkshire pudding, or the baked Norwegian salmon with savory shellfish cream. The main is accompanied by mum’s roast potatoes, grandma’s gravy, Cauliflower cheese and honey-roasted carrots with salted cashew nuts. Desserts include a nostalgic duo of homemade vanilla Whippy soft serve and the buttery English confection of Bakewell tart with poached summer berries and Tonka cream.
The free-flow drinks option (+HK198) covers cava, house red and white wines, beer, and the choice between American (Arnold Palmer) and British (Gin & Tonic) cocktails. Brunch at Kinship goes from 11:30am – 4pm every weekend, and officially kicks off with “The American Brunch Menu” from 29 June 2019.
