    <<21st March, 2018 – Hong Kong>> The British Isles, a group of islands off the northwestern coast of Europe, are home to some of the finest produce in the world. Whether it is fresh seafood from Scotland’s breathtaking coast, or tender varieties of English meat, there’s a never-ending trove of delectable ingredients. Hong Kong’s first restaurant driven by the archipelago’s storied produce, Steak on Elgin is the new premium steakhouse that has now soft-open in the heart of Soho, Hong Kong. A menu focused on quality ingredients coupled with Head Chef Clayton Ma’s strong ethos of sustainability makes this steakhouse a unique new contender on the scene.

    The Menu: Driven by Fresh Produce from the British Isles

    Steak on Elgin’s new menu reflects its dedication to sourcing only the finest quality produce from the British Isles and beyond. With straightforward categories for appetisers, seafood, meat (beef, pork, and lamb), sides, desserts and cheese, Steak on Elgin serves up a stunning feast crafted from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Steak lovers will rejoice at the impressive 100% grass-fed UK-native beef selections that cover all cuts – from dry-aged fillet mignon on the bone, rib eye and sirloin, to porterhouse and more.

    With a total of 6 appetisers from the menu, highlights include the Crudo of New Caledonian “Angel Prawn” (HK$178), complemented by arbequina smoked olive oil, cucumber and fine herbs, and Grilled Spanish Octopus (HK$185), cooked to a smoky char with anchovy, roasted garlic and caper sauce (250g). Guests will be impressed by an extensive selection of high quality UK-native breed meats sourced from the British Isles, including the 30 -40 Day Dry-aged Filet Mignon on the Bone (12oz – HK$480)Dry-aged 100% grass-fed Rib-Eye on the Bone (30oz, serves 2 guests – HK$1,280), Kettyle Irish Salt Moss Cave Aged Porterhouse (42oz, serves 2 guests- HK$1,420), which are 100% grass-fed, 30-35 days dry-aged. Other meat collection at Steak on Elgin also includes a beautiful center-cut Pork Chop (HK$320), from pigs raised in UK’s Wicks Manor farm and fed on home-grown wheat and barley. The lamb is a Welsh Rhug Estate Organic Lamb Rack(HK$680).

    Enjoy your steaks with a total of 6 classic sides including bana cauda creamed spinach, hand-cut triple cooked friesYorkshire Pudding and more, all priced at HK$78. With a total of 4 desserts on offer, Steak on Elgin offers the comforting classic British flavours of Grandma’s Boozy Trifle (HK$128) and a fine choice of European cheese selection (HK$160 per guest), a perfect conclusion to a hearty dinner.

    The restaurant stocks an impressive inventory of over 350 bottles of well-curated wines, and prides itself on its excellent wine service led by owner, Stephen Wickens. Steak on Elgin wholeheartedly believes that guests should be able to enjoy quality wines without the exorbitant mark-ups so commonly seen at restaurants in Hong Kong and offers delicious vintages with minimal price margins.     Head Chef Clayton Ma

    The kitchen is helmed by Head Chef Clayton Ma, a native of Hong Kong and Vancouver. Fluent in 3 languages and influenced by the culinary traditions of over 5 countries, Clayton has developed his cooking style to achieve a blend of old and new; eastern and western techniques. His impressive culinary history spans Nordic-inspired fine dining restaurant FINDS by Chef Jaakko Sorsa, Relais et Chateau boutique hotel The Little Nell Montagna in Aspen, Colorado, Armani / Ristorante in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, and finally, leading G7 Private Dining back in Hong Kong. Now, Chef Clayton takes his vast wealth of culinary knowledge and respect of natural and sustainable products to helm Steak on Elgin.

    Exuding a classy yet comfortable ambiance, the interior comprises of muted tones, modern furnishings and tasteful elements of wood, marble and leather. Moody lighting sets the scene for a perfect date night or a cosy affair with friends, offering a secluded little haven within the bustling streets of Soho. With a décor masterminded by acclaimed local architectural and design consultancy, Zanghellini & Holt (ZHA), the interior is a result of years of expertise in finding the balance between an outstanding design and flawless functionality.

    Steak on Elgin has now soft opened for dinner service only. Comfortably seating up to 24 guests in the main dining room semi-private table, Steak on Elgin is an intimate dining space that caters to all occasions.
