    <<16th October 2019 Hong Kong>> Offering the city’s first ever range of organic, sugar-free, gluten-free and vegan-friendly baked desserts, The Cakery has delighted health-conscious Hong Kongers since day one. Its string of successful pop-ups led to the opening of permanent shops in The Landmark and Lee Gardens Two in 2017, the latter of which closed temporarily to undergo a remodeling project. The Cakery is excited to announce that its shop in Lee Gardens 2 will be re-opening its doors on 17th October, 2019.

     Introducing The Cakery’s All-New Lower Calorie Afternoon Tea

    The Cakery has now launched its lower calorie, gluten-free and vegan afternoon tea set priced at HK$468 for two persons. Afternoon tea, the beloved weekend tradition of sitting down for tea and finger food, is also known for its hefty calorie count from buttery scones and lavish cakes. At The Cakery, afternoon tea with the girls becomes a guilt-free indulgence, with a guaranteed lower calorie count of only 566kcal per person compared to the traditional afternoon tea set that packs more than 800 kcal per person, in addition to a transparent breakdown of calories per treat.

    Nutrient-rich savoury bites include the Stuffed Romesco Quinoa Baby Eggplant (36.6kcal) with almonds, red peppers, white quinoa and baby eggplant; Mixed Mushroom Sandwich (44.8 kcal) with brown button mushroom, honshimeji mushroom, eringii mushroom, portabella and mustard; and Chia Cracker with Whipped Hummus (41.3 kcal) topped with pomegranate.

    Sweet treats include refined sugar-free Plain Chia Pudding (58.5 kcal) with almond milk, oat, chia seed, maple syrup and pumpkin seeds; Blood Orange Coconut Yogurt Crumble (77.1 kcal) with blood orange puree, organic cane sugar, oat flour and almond flour; Lemon Tart (110.0kcal) with fresh lemon, turmeric, maple syrup and dairy-free chocolate; one of the signature Day Dreamer Mini Cupcake (71.8 kcal); and the traditional Scone (126.3 kcal), reinvented in The Cakery’s healthier style with almond milk, brown rice flour, tapioca flour, erythritol and vegan butter.

    The Cakery’s New Offerings at Lee Gardens 2

    With its anticipated re-opening in Lee Gardens 2, The Cakery will unveil new guilt-free offerings alongside long-time customer favorites within a sleek, minimalist and elegant setting. Among the new items will be an indulgent afternoon tea menu and a delicious low-carb keto-friendly cheesecake. Popular signature baked goods will remain, including the Day Dreamer (HK$45) regular size gluten-free and vegan chocolate cupcake with dairy-free vanilla frosting, the special My Lady (HK$1,580) flower-adorned cake with Swiss buttercream and a golden fondant bird, and the charming farmyard animal chiffon cake series, in particular the Skinny Dip (from HK$500), an organic chiffon cake filled with The Cakery’s artisanal strawberry jam. The Rainbow Keto Cheesecake (HK$68/slice) is as delicious as it is eye-catching, featuring a rainbow of flavors starting with strawberry pink, orange, lemon yellow, matcha green, blueberry blue, black goji berry purple and black charcoal grey.

    New signature lunch items will also be served at the new location, including savory delights such as Avocado Mixed Seeds Egg Bagel Sandwich (HK$72), packed with superfoods such as red quinoa, flaxseed and coconut yogurt; Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich (HK$70) with Swiss cheese and Greek yogurt bagel; and the vegan Impossible Meat Burger (HK$98) with Impossible meat patty, lettuce, homemade vegan cheese spread, red onion, tomato and mustard.

    A respected finance figure-turned-entrepreneur, The Cakery founder Shirley Kwok began with the vision to improve the overall nutrition profile of even the most indulgent desserts. Through cooking with purpose, she strives to bring people joy, as well as give those with allergies and special dietary needs the opportunity to celebrate with a cake.

    “It’s a pleasure to be a part of peoples’ most meaningful occasions,” says founder, Shirley Kwok. “Our dedication to conscious living also gives me a sense of achievement — we’re actively making a difference to the way people consume.”

    In 2019, Shirley decided to launch a sister brand, KIRR (Keeping It Real & Raw), whole sole focus is the future of sustainability. It is an attempt to make sustainability more accessible to everyone by offering products sourced from all over the world ranging from ingredients, household products and personal care, to pets’ and kids’ products. She strives to build a “Kommunity” of people who can help make sustainability the new fashion.
