    <<25th February 2019 – Hong Kong>> Born from the perfect harmony between “Ki”, the Japanese symbol of life’s energy, and “Italy”, Kytaly has enjoyed high critical acclaim since opening on Wyndham Street in Central last August. Brought to Hong Kong by founder Alessandro Bortesi, Kytaly boasts the exclusivity of recipes by legendary pizzaiolo Franco Pepe. With a new cocktail program spearheaded by gifted bartender Giancarlo Mancino, guests are treated to award-winning pizzas paired with premium cocktails in a beautiful terrace setting in the heart of the city. From 6-10 March, Franco Pepe returns to Kytaly Hong Kong to launch an exclusive pizza and cocktail collaboration menu with Giancarlo Mancino.

    As part of the special week-long collaboration, Franco Pepe will unveil a new dish to pair perfectly with Mancino’s vermouth libations. A critically acclaimed pizza for its uncanny ability to fuse pineapples with pizza, the “AnaNascosta” is the delectable result of Pepe’s attempt to challenge the pairing thought to be so controversial in Italy. Translating to “hidden pineapple” in Italian, the AnaNascosta is a small cone of fried pizza, in which there is a small amount of grana cheese fondue, a cube of very cold pineapple wrapped in a slice of fat-rich prosciutto crudo and finished with a touch of licorice liquor.


    Franco Pepe – Legendary Pizzaiolo

    Franco Pepe and his family of legendary bread-makers were the first to revolutionise the art of pizza making, choosing to create original recipes from scratch following the traditions and methods set out in his family. Working closely with his father, Pepe learned everything there was to know from sourcing the freshest local ingredients to constructing the perfect dough and flour by hand over the past 25 years.

    Among the string of global recognitions and accolades received, Franco Pepe currently enjoys the #1 position for Top 50 Best Pizza in Italy 2018 (www.50toppizza.it). His notable pizza creations includes the Margherita Sbagliata, which won the award for “The Best Pizza in the World” from 2016-2018.


    Giancarlo Mancino – Bartender & Entrepreneur

    Hailing from Pignola, Italy,  Giancarlo Mancino learned his many trades over twenty years behind the best bars around the globe. Kicking off his career in New York City in 1998 with a one-year-long stint at the St. Regis Hotel, Mancino quickly went from strength to strength as he honed his skills at world-class establishments such as London’s Lanesborough Hotel as the very first bartender at Library Bar, and the award-winning bars under Taj Hotel’s expansive empire throughout India. Mancino’s mentors span legendary names from Salvatore Calabrese to Cory Campbell, coach and trainer of Tom Cruise for the movie Cocktails. In 2012, Mancino also launched his own brand of artisanal Italian vermouth named Mancino Vermouth (mancinovermouth.com) in Berlin, and it has since launched in 30 countries world-wide.


    Currently, Kytaly’s cocktail menu houses ten exquisite creations by Giancarlo Mancino. Some highlights include the Martiniano, a sweet concoction of London Dry Gin, Mancino Vermouth, Secco, lemon oil and Japanese wakamomo peaches, and the Negroncino, Mancino’s take on the modern Negroni, created with Amalfi Gin, Mancino Vermouth Rosso, Chinato, Campari Bitter, Rinomato Aperitivo, Americano and Artemisia after being preserved in a clay pot for 48 hours. All cocktails are priced at HK$108 each, and available daily from 12pm onwards.
