<<1st November 2019 – Hong Kong>> Asaya Kitchen, the newest dining destination by Rosewood Hong Kong, has now opened on level six of the ultra-luxury hotel in the heart of the Victoria Dockside arts and design district. Situated on the same floor as Asaya, Rosewood’s new urban wellness concept which is launching in tandem, Asaya Kitchen enjoys striking views of the harbour and serves wholesome, health-conscious fare that respects responsible sourcing from the sea and soil.

Helmed by Chef Renaud Marin, formerly of Cochin and Upper Modern Bistro in Hong Kong, Asaya Kitchen champions artful Mediterranean and a healthy Japanese diet-inspired menu that focuses on seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers, fisheries and artisans, prepared in a light and clean style.

Mindful, balanced and nourishing: the food at Asaya Kitchen

Asaya Kitchen will showcase nutrient-rich dishes with a focus on cooking methods that maintain the unique properties of fresh and seasonal produce. Plates are infused with raw, sprouted, pickled and fermented organic ingredients in the à la carte lunch menu, while the dinner menu takes on a more detailed and elevated dining approach. In keeping with the influence of the Mediterranean diet, the wine list at Asaya Kitchen will feature an array of antioxidant-rich, organic and biodynamic wines curated by Nicolas Deneux, Rosewood Hong Kong’s Area Wine Director, Asia. The Asaya wine list takes an artisanal approach, featuring biodynamic, lighter bodied, and smaller production wines which pair well with the menu’s vegetables, fish, and grains. As pure alcohol goes against Asaya Kitchen’s ethos of healthful cuisine, the cocktail list accents finely-crafted cocktails – minus the alcohol.

    Asaya Kitchen – Breakfast Offering

Offering a true breakfast for champions, Asaya Kitchen’s health-conscious breakfast menu covers a la carte dishes in addition to “Nutrient Rich” (HK$325), “Asaya” (HK$295) and “Garden” (HK$285) three-course sets with organic tea and fair trade coffee. A la carte dishes include organic and free-range egg omelettes (from HK$120), oven-fresh pastries (from HK$55), homemade yogurts (from HK$75), organic specials such as Avocado on Toast (HK$95), and an array of nutritious power bowls made with overnight grains (from HK$75).

    Asaya Kitchen – Lunch Offering

For lunch, guests may choose dishes from the a la carte menu, or opt for the valued set lunch of 2-courses (HK$185) or 3-courses (HK$275). Highlights of the menu include the nutrient-rich Cuttlefish Salad (HK$145) with quinoa, avocado and citrus dressing, and Grilled Octopus (HK$160) with vegetable tian and smoked eggplant caviar. For a zesty main, try Chef Renaud’s Grilled Prawn Tartine (HK$165) with crushed avocado, dukkah and lemon emulsion.

    Asaya Kitchen – Dinner Offering

Highlights from the dinner menu include The Autumn Garden (HK$195), featuring pickled vegetables plucked from Rosewood Hong Kong’s farm in the New Territories; and Cauliflower Cocotte (HK$190), served to share with green salad and egg dressing. The Grilled Whole Fish (market price) is the catch of the day, served simply with Pilaf black rice and green salad. For dessert, enjoy the signature Roasted ‘Victoria’ Pineapple (HK$95), with coriander honey, yogurt sorbet and coriander cress.

For a seasonal experience of all that Asaya Kitchen has to offer, guests may opt for the chef’s dégustation menu for HK$795+10% per person, with optional biodynamic wine pairing for +HK$485. A Taste of Asaya incorporates “raw”, “garden”, “organic egg”, “nutrient rich”, “cleansing” and “sweet” headliners, under which are regularly changing seasonal menu items. Currently on the menu are courses such as Egg Onsen with mushroom tea and soba noodles, and a dessert of Poached Persimmon with tofu lemon posset and toasted nuts.

Where possible, vegetables and fruits are sourced from proprietary local farms that follow the rules for organic cultivation, and much of the seafood served is sourced through Rosewood Hong Kong’s special partnership with the Sai Kung-based Shun King Fisherman as part of its “Partners in Provenance” programme.

Interior design by New York designer, Tony Chi

With spacious, welcoming interiors by award-winning designer Tony Chi of New York’s tonychi, who created Asaya’s elegantly balanced and light-filled interiors, the restaurant’s restful aesthetic celebrates comfort, purity and relaxation while encompassing stylish natural elements. The restorative aesthetic echoes the Japanese sensibilities around wellness and wellbeing throughout. Here, the engawas – porches or terraces in traditional Japanese architecture – connect the inner spaces of Asaya Kitchen on the sixth floor with the outdoor Poolside Bar and passageways leading to the Asaya Glass House, a versatile residential-style event space for corporate or wellness workshops and retreats, lectures, or classes and seminars, as well as private and bespoke events at Asaya; and the Asaya reception and conceptual retail space beyond. Designed to be a social space, the main dining area of Asaya Kitchen will feature an expansive open kitchen leading out to the dynamic Poolside Bar with tables and lounge chairs overlooking the terrace, stellar views of Victoria Harbour and Rosewood Hong Kong’s outdoor infinity pool.

For an alfresco extension to Asaya Kitchen, the Poolside Bar will feature a broader selection of comfort foods, as well as an alcoholic cocktail list of organic and small batch spirits. The Poolside Bar menu offers delicious plant-based substitutes for meat-lovers and vegans alike who wish to enjoy an authentic burger experience without the environmental hangover.
